Salena Saliva Godden

Known for taking poetry out of the classroom and into
London club culture, – poetry to dance to – Salena is
reputedly one of Britain’s most visceral raw-gut talents.

Her poetry and short stories are published in
magazines/anthologies worldwide, including magazines
Gargoyle, Rising, Shoe, The Brobdingagian Times, Lucid
Moon, Coke Fishing, Yominomo, APE, PIL, Medicinal
Purposes, Slugfest, and The Idler; and anthologies The
Fire People, Girlboy, Oral, Artefiction and IC3: The
Penguin Bool of New Black Writing in Britain. She is
included in a collection of short stories published by
Serpent’s Tail, featuring London’s notorious Filthy
McNasty’s “Vox n’ Roll” writers entitled Hot Sauce With Everything. Her chapbook trilogy, Saline Trips and Saline Trips Too, sold out and December 2000 marks the
release of the eagerly awaited final chapter, Saline Trips
Free. A short film of her poem Snooker was aired on
Channel 4 in October 2000.

Salena works frequently with 21st century visionary,
music partner/producer Peter ‘Peyote’ Coyte (The PC
Collective). Together they produce Saltpetre, a quarterly
recording which offers definitive collections of spoken
word on CD. Salena and Peter are currently on air with
two Saltpetre radio shows, producing and hosting unique
two-hour specials on BBC London Live, as well as a
fortnightly show on National Student Broadcast Network. Egg Yolk Planet Fried by Salena Saliva and the PC Collective, their debut album, is out on Saltpetre
Records.

Salena featured on the last two Coldcut albums, Let Us
Play and Let Us Replay, alongside the likes of Jello Biafra and Grandmaster Flash, and has performed and toured
New York, Japan, UK and Europe extensively. She will be taking her words to Oz, (Sydney, Melbourne) and then back to New York throughout Dec/Jan 2001.
