John Kilroy will be reading brief excerpts
from his new, 252-page book of poetry, “Torque.” His work has been
published in such e-zines as Avatar Review, Samsara Quarterly, Iguanaland,
Bonfires and Cuisinart. “Opening “Torque” is exactly comparable to the
first time one hears Blind Willie Johnson...it's the first time again
driving a Porsche full out on a decreasing radius curve, slamming down the
gears to send the car into a four wheel drift...,” wrote Ron Jones,
Managing Editor, Avatar Review. “Mostly I love the energy and the spirit
that fill these poems by John Kilroy. He manages to please me with his
eye, with his ability to see, and he manages to make me think,” said Jack
Estes, Pleasure Boat Studio: A Literary Press. Kilroy himself says, “It
may not be literature, but it’s the craziest damn thing.” The book is
available for $16 from Chrome Press or Amazon.com. Kilroy is an Orange
Country writer, residing in Orange, and has been a regular this year at
the Two Idiots Peddling Poetry readings. For a ton of samples of his work,

Sharon Saunders wrote many poems in 1976,
which probably saved her life. Her poems were lost until 1999 when her
husband found them on the floor of the garage, and she was encouraged by
Katya Giritsky to read them at the North Orange County Poetry Continuum.
She began writing again, and has been very happy meeting kindred OC poets
(who she says are great people). By vocation, Sharon is a Senior
Investigator for the Public Defender (24 yrs.), mother of 3+ 4 and
grandmother of 3 + 11 married in. By education, she is a Cultural
Anthropologist. She lives with her husband in Mira Loma on a half acre
mini-farm full of goats, sheep, pigs, dogs & cats who have been
rescued/orphaned or just dumped in their yard. |
