Buddy Wakefield & Alyssa Burrows

Buddy Wakefield

Buddy Wakefield is a tested & proven, highly competent, quality Gemini with zero defeats in milk chugging. He has skydiving, bull riding, river rafting,
guitar playing, public speaking, team leading, two dozen ropes courses,
uncommon memorizational skills, The National College Dean's List, a
full-length CD, one novel, and dozens of first place Poetry Slams under his
belt. He holds a degree in English with minors in General Business
Administrations and Creative Writing. Buddy is well versed in most genres of
music, books, movies, theology and in working with all grade levels.
Buddy Wakefield left his job as an executive assistant at a biomedical firm
to pursue his prominent talents, writing and performance. The Poetry Slam
enables him to write and perform simultaneously, while providing Buddy with
an immeasurable amount of support and energy to sustain momentum and
motivation in a positive direction toward his personal goals. He knows about
the good stuff and what it takes. Jobs Buddy has worked to get here include:
street sweeping, house cleaning, security guarding, resident assisting,
redelivering, memory skilling, fast fooding, bartending and his favorite,
teaching (where he realized his personal mantra 'Show-Not-Tell').
Buddy Wakefield pretends that - inside his skin - he's got a friend who's
willin' to give him everything he ever wanted in exchange for all he's ever been.

Alyssa Burrows

Alyssa Burrows, poet and blues singer, is a large, rather pissed off young
woman who couches her anger in exceedingly dry sarcastic cynicism. Filthy
language and tell-it-like-it-is blunt humor is her forté. Some deformity of
world perspective haunts her, but this makes for some interesting and highly
humorous work. Am told she is aware this is probably her own fault, and
swears she doesn’t lash out physically. A Seattle native, she went to
college in Bellingham and has read in New York, L.A., Las Vegas, London,
Liverpool, Bristol, Edinburgh, Portland and Vancouver B.C. Her
self-published poetry book, Light Blue is a Sissy Colour, has sold over 1600
books by word of mouth, and although she really hasn’t gotten another
compilation together since then, she emphasizes she is still a good person.
Friends tell her she should be a comedian, but frankly, she doesn’t feel
like making the effort. Gives good show.
